Five years ago, I was that artist you probably know-the one with incredible talent but a bank account that made her stomach drop every time she checked it. I was pouring my heart into beautiful creations that sat unsold in my studio, applying to galleries that never responded, and wondering if maybe I just wasn’t meant to make money from my art.

I remember one particularly dark Tuesday afternoon, sitting on my studio floor surrounded by canvases I couldn’t afford to frame, fighting back tears as I calculated whether I could make rent that month. I’d been told my entire life that artists were supposed to suffer for their craft, that money and creativity couldn’t coexist, that I’d have to choose between my soul’s expression and financial stability.

What I didn’t know then was that I wasn’t failing as an artist-I was just creating from a place of disconnection. Disconnected from my spiritual truth, from my cosmic blueprint, from the deeper purpose my soul had come here to fulfill. 

Today, I run a thriving spiritual business that honors both my creative gifts and my need for abundant living. The journey from struggling artist to aligned entrepreneur wasn’t just about changing my business model–it was about remembering who I really am and why I’m really here.

The Awakening: When Everything I Thought I Knew Crumbled

The shift began during what I now call my “cosmic wake-up call”—a period when everything in my life seemed to fall apart simultaneously. My relationship ended, my part-time job disappeared, and I got rejection letter after rejection letter from every creative opportunity I applied for.

I was angry, exhausted, and ready to give up on the whole “artist dream” entirely. Maybe everyone was right. Maybe I should just get a “real job” and keep art as a hobby.

But then, in one of those moments of divine timing that you can only see clearly in retrospect, a friend handed me a book about astrology. “I don’t know why,” she said, “but I feel like you need to read this.”

I rolled my eyes. Astrology? Really? I was a practical artist dealing with real-world problems. I needed business advice, not star charts.

But desperation makes you open to things you’d normally dismiss. That night, unable to sleep and tired of worrying about money, I cracked open the book. 

What I discovered changed everything. 

As I read about birth charts and planetary influences, something deep inside me began to stir. For the first time in my life, I felt seen by something larger than my immediate circumstances. The descriptions of my Sun sign, my Moon placement, my Venus aspects-they described parts of myself I’d never been able to articulate but had always felt.

I realized I’d been trying to force my creativity into a box that was never meant to contain it. I wasn’t supposed to be just a painter selling pretty pictures. I was meant to be a bridge between the spiritual and creative realms, helping other souls remember their own cosmic artistry.

But knowing this and living it were two very different things.

The Resistance: When Your Soul Knows But Your Mind Fights Back

You’d think that discovering your soul’s purpose would make everything instantly easier, but honestly? It made things harder at first.

My logical mind went into overdrive trying to talk me out of this new direction. “Spiritual entrepreneur? That’s not a real career,” it whispered. “People will think you’re crazy. You can’t pay bills with crystals and birth chart readings.”

I spent months trying to straddle both worlds–keeping one foot in the traditional art world while secretly studying astrology and spiritual practices. I was terrified of fully stepping into this new identity because it felt so vulnerable, so… unproven. 

The internal resistance was fierce. Every time I felt called to create something that merged my artistic gifts with spiritual insight, I’d sabotage myself. The Challenges: What They Don’t Tell You About Following Your Soul’s Path

I want to be honest with you–following your soul’s calling isn’t all crystal rainbows and abundant manifestation. There were real challenges I had to navigate, and I think it’s important to talk about them. 

The Identity Shift Was Harder Than Expected Letting go of the “struggling artist” identity was surprisingly difficult. It had become so much a part of who I thought I was that success felt foreign and almost guilt-inducing at first. 

Not Everyone Understood the Transition Some people in my life couldn’t understand why I was “abandoning” traditional art for “weird spiritual stuff.” I lost some connections, but I gained so many more aligned relationships. 

The Practical Learning Curve Was Steep Learning to run a spiritual business while honoring my creative nature required skills I’d never developed-marketing, client boundaries, pricing spiritual work, managing energy as well as time. 

Imposter Syndrome Hit Hard Who was I to guide others on their spiritual journey when I was still figuring out my own? This voice showed up constantly, especially in the early days. 

Financial Fears Didn’t Disappear Overnight Even as abundance started flowing, old scarcity patterns would resurface. I had to do deep work around my relationship with money and worth.

But here’s what I learned: these challenges weren’t obstacles to my path-they were part of it. Each difficulty was asking me to step more fully into my truth, to develop the exact qualities I’d need to serve others on their own soul journeys.

The Magic: When You Align With Your Soul’s Work 

The moment I fully committed to my soul’s work, everything shifted. Not overnight, but consistently and powerfully.

Creativity Became Effortless When you’re creating from alignment, inspiration flows like a river. Ideas come faster than I can implement them. Creative blocks became rare visitors instead of permanent residents.

The Right People Found Me Instead of chasing clients who didn’t really understand my work, my ideal people started magnetizing to me. Clients who were ready for transformation, who valued both beauty and depth, who saw my prices as investments in their soul’s evolution.

Abundance Flowed Naturally Money stopped being something I had to chase and became something that flowed through my aligned service. When your work serves souls at the deepest level, people invest at that level too.

Purpose and Profit Unified The old paradigm of choosing between meaningful work and financial success dissolved completely. My purpose became my profit center, and my profit supported my purpose.

Energy Became Sustainable Working from soul alignment is energizing rather than draining. Even my busiest days feel nourishing because I’m doing exactly what I came here to do.
